Frequently Asked Questions
All your journal entries are stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database using SQLCipher encryption. This means your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable backup or export features. We do not have access to your journal content on our servers.
Additionally, encryption keys are stored in your device's secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keychain), providing an extra layer of protection. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
Local Backup (Export): Go to Settings → Export Data. This will create an encrypted JSON file saved to your device. You can share this file via email, cloud storage, or any method you prefer. To restore, go to Settings → Import Data and select the JSON file.
Cloud Backup: You can optionally enable automatic encrypted backups to iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android) in Settings → Cloud Backup. These backups are end-to-end encrypted with a key stored only on your device. To restore, reinstall the app and enable cloud backup—your data will sync automatically.
Delete Individual Entries: Swipe left on any journal entry in the list view and tap "Delete."
Reset Entire App: Go to Settings → Reset App. This will permanently erase all local data, including journal entries, settings, and encryption keys. This action cannot be undone, so make sure to export a backup first if you want to keep your data.
Server-Side Data: If you've submitted anonymous feedback or diagnostics, you can request deletion by emailing stoxia.app@gmail.com.
Go to Settings → Notifications. You can enable or disable daily reflection reminders and choose the time you'd like to be notified. Notifications are local (sent by your device) and do not require any server connection.
When you use the AI insight feature, Stoxia sends a small, anonymized excerpt of your journal entry to an AI API (OpenAI or similar) to generate a short Stoic reflection. Before sending, we strip out any personally identifiable information (names, email addresses, phone numbers, etc.) locally on your device.
Only the specific text you've selected for analysis is sent, not your entire journal or history. The data is transmitted over encrypted TLS connections, and our contract with the AI provider ensures that your prompts are not stored or used for training.
This feature is optional and can be disabled at any time in Settings. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.
To report a bug, please use the contact form below or email stoxia.app@gmail.com. When reporting an issue, please include:
- Your device model and OS version (e.g., iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 17.2)
- App version (found in Settings → About)
- A detailed description of the issue and steps to reproduce it
- Screenshots or screen recordings, if applicable
We collect anonymous crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics, which helps us identify and fix bugs automatically. You can disable crash reporting in Settings → Privacy if you prefer.

The annual subscription includes a 7-day free trial with no charge. You can cancel anytime before the trial ends. See our Terms of Service for complete details.
Subscriptions are managed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store, not within the Stoxia app.
To cancel on iOS (Apple):
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad
- Tap your name at the top
- Tap "Subscriptions"
- Select "Stoxia" from the list
- Tap "Cancel Subscription"
To cancel on Android (Google Play):
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap the menu icon (three lines) and select "Subscriptions"
- Select "Stoxia" from the list
- Tap "Cancel subscription"
Important: To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before your subscription renews.
Free Trial: If you're on the 7-day free trial, you can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to paid.
Refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by Stoxia. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly.
Apple (iOS):
- Visit reportaproblem.apple.com
- Sign in with your Apple ID
- Find your Stoxia purchase and click "Report a Problem"
- Select "Request a refund" and follow the instructions
Google Play (Android):
- Visit play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions
- Find your Stoxia subscription
- Click "Request a refund" or contact Google Play Support
Refund policies vary by platform. Apple typically allows refunds within 90 days of purchase if you have a valid reason. Google Play has similar policies.
Yes! Stoxia is fully functional offline. All your journal entries are stored locally on your device, so you can write, edit, and read your journal without an internet connection.
Some features require internet access: AI-generated insights (requires API call), cloud backup sync, and anonymous feedback submission. Everything else works offline.
Absolutely. Your journal entries are stored locally on your device in an encrypted database. We do not have access to your entries on our servers. We do not track you, we do not run ads, and we do not sell your data.
The only data we collect is anonymous diagnostics (crash reports, feature flags) and optional feedback you choose to submit. See our Privacy Policy for a complete explanation.
